Go to Manhattan to find your fortune... (Manhattan, KANSAS)

By Jesse Hodes, Campus Representative, Kansas State University

Over the past few years it seemed as if the recession has hit anything and everything. However, an article from USA Today suggests that this is not exactly true. And the best part about it is...you may not even have to move away from where you attend school.

"A USA TODAY analysis reveals two categories of cities that have weathered the recession and housing market meltdown better than many boomtowns: College towns and state capitals. In some cases, these cities have grown even faster during the recession than before."
Here is a list of some of the recently booming college towns:

Although I usually look toward larger cities around my area like Kansas City, I never realized that there may be some great opportunities right in my lap here in Manhattan. As many students panic trying to find someone to sub-lease their college home or apartment over the summer time, they might find their college town to be one that has not been greatly effected by this slumping economy. Parents may be unhappy they can't see their son/daughter, but I am sure students would be thrilled to find that there are many opportunities to keep that college atmosphere WHILE enjoying the safety of a job or career.
