Many entrepreneurs are coming back to school to gain valuable business knowledge and have a clear understanding of their business plan when they rejoin their company. This is becoming more popular because many individuals want to fortify their skills and improve their resumes. The main goal for returning to school is to improve profits and overall performance of their companies. The individuals that are returning to school feel that having an MBA will provide huge advantages in the market over other people that do not have this degree. David Port from BusinessWeek writes about one of these individuals returning to school:
"I felt like something was missing—that getting an MBA might be a good thing to do," explains Verdi Ergn, a first-year MBA candidate at Ross who, after selling two successful food service ventures he started as an undergraduate, recently launched Own, a point-of-sale cashiering system developer. "There's a lot out there that I don't know."
I found this article to be extremely interesting because a number of students have the tendency to graduate from an undergraduate program and never return for a Master’s degree. This article showed that returning to school is not always a bad thing and can actually give an individual an advantage. Personally, this is something I would be interested in because I want to get a hold of any advantage I can and there is nothing wrong with learning new things. The cost of returning to school would hopefully pay for itself with the success of one’s business after returning to full time work.
